The Columbia Kennel Club submitted applications, contracts and full payment to provide two additional counties in South Carolina with an AKC Disaster Relief Trailer to help with housing and reuniting pets with their owners after a disaster event.
The cost of each trailer was $19,500 and the Columbia Kennel Club paid for them in full. Colleton County and Orangeburg County will house the trailers and deploy them as needed, when requested by South Carolina Emergency Management.
Each trailer will come equipped with crates, food, medical supplies, location and identification chips and other necessary items to keep pets safe during a disaster and reunite them with their families after an event. The addition of these two trailers brings the total in the State of South Carolina to three, as Greenville already had a unit in place.
